Park City- based coalition for healthy and unified sports community presents
speaker David Benzel, America’s Family Sports Coach

Park City, Utah (September 10, 2013) – The Park City Sport and Wellness Coalition kicks off the fall season with keynote presenter David Benzel. Scheduled for Thursday, September 26, from 7:00 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. the presentation entitled “What Your Child Needs to Suceed” will be held at The George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Center in Park City. Admission is free and open to all ages.

The presentation will focus essential strategies for sports and life for parents with children in sports programs. Presenter David Benzel is uniquely qualified to facilitate this discussion and plans to present in an interactive workshop format. David is an author, athlete, and sport-family coach. His focus has been on studying an athlete's discipline, a coach's inspiration, and a parent's practical experience to teach parents and coaches necessary skills for succeeding in the athletic arena.

With fifteen years as a corporate leadership coach for companies like Nextel, Sprint, Allstate, Balfour Beatty, and The Villages, David has established experience in the principles of influence and coaching. Perhaps most importantly, David credits raising two elite-level athletes providing him hands-on strategies for connecting parents with athletic children. His daughter Tarah was a Junior World Water Skiing Champion and now a professional wake boarder; and son Tyler received a baseball scholarship to Florida Southern College and went on to play professionally for the Newark Bears. David also spent ten years as a commentator for ESPN and Outdoor Life Network.

Personally, David holds eight national water skiing championships and five national records in water ski jumping.

As coach of the U.S. water ski team, he led the team to a successful world championship. David is also a Master level cycling competitor with five race wins in Florida. Water Skiing Hall of Fame of USA Water Ski awarded David an Award of Distinction.

David’s organization – Growing Champions for Life, Inc. – is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the youth sport experience by providing parents with positive strategies and practical tools for building cohesive families and principle-centered athletes. Through the organization’s website, parents can access workshops, articles, books as well as join an online membership program. The website is
